| The Solar and Hygiene Centre
The Solar and Hygiene Centre in Tambacounda was opened in 2003 and has become a popular meeting place for both the young and old. The Centre was designed as a pilot project demonstrating its ecological construction, ground water protection and the use of solar energy. Today the Centre is primarily used as an education centre and meeting place, where the people of Tambacounda can share information and inform themselves upon a variety of topics.
The Centre includes an Internet cafe, a library, which is also used to hold events, a tailoring area, and a computer science room. The Centre is also equipped with a dry toilet. A carpentry workshop is in the planning stages. Links on the Site describe the individual projects and activities of the Solar and Hygiene Centre.
